Eat Here
Bend offers slightly schizophrenic varieties of food from pure Cowboy to Haute Cuisine. You may have the ‘Original Country’ fare of historic Deschutes County including the best steaks on the planet, or your cravings may steer you to any of the restaurants more representative of the strong influence San Francisco and Seattle have had on Bend in the last decade. Visit Fireside Red,the exclusive restaurant of choice for the 2008 BendFilm Festival.

Central Oregon is incredible in October and the opportunities for activities other than movie watching, should you for some strange reason disengage from the festival for a few hours, are endless. Bend is at the base of Mount Bachelor, the Three Sisters and Broken Top. The surrounding creates stunning views, hiking, and mountain biking. The Deschutes River runs through town which again provides both beauty and recreation. If you rock climb you already know about Smith Rock 20 minutes north of Bend. Downtown Bend is charming and stocked with enough great stores that some travel here for the shopping alone.
